Women in Mining Network

The Women in Mining Network (WIMnet) is a national initiative from the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM), in place to support the attraction and retention of women in the minerals industry as well as encouraging membership and participation of women in the AusIMM. In addition to its policy and advocacy work at the national level, WIMnet provides a variety of mentoring programs, professional development opportunities and networking events for members in each state. Membership is open to all, regardless of gender and AusIMM membership status, and is free.

The groups’ objectives include:

  • Retention of female graduates and new professionals in the industry

  • Increasing the number of women in executive and board level roles

  • Involving men in the change process

  • Increasing female participation in committees and conferences

  • Advocating for flexible work arrangements

  • Monitoring and raising awareness of the gender pay gap

  • Supporting diversity initiatives

MCA Women in Mining video- Walk the Mining Road is a short video exploring the lives of several successful women in the mining industry. It shows the passion, enthusiasm and desire to help the broader community that embodies many of our industry's workers.
