R-Ladies Melbourne is Australia's first R Programming community for women & minority genders. As a local chapter of the R-Ladies Global, R-Ladies Melbourne exists to promote gender diversity in the R community, both in Australia and worldwide.
The R community suffers from an underrepresentation of women and minority genders in every role and area of participation; whether as leaders, package developers, conference speakers, conference participants, educators, or users (see recent stats).
The R-Ladies Melbourne mission:
As a diversity initiative, our aim is to achieve a proportionate representation by encouraging, inspiring, and empowering people of genders currently underrepresented in the R community. Our primary focus, therefore, is on supporting minority gender R enthusiasts to achieve their programming potential, by building a collaborative global network of R leaders, mentors, learners, and developers to facilitate individual and collective progress worldwide.
R-Ladies Melbourne welcomes members of all R proficiency levels, from new or aspiring R users, to experienced R programmers interested in mentoring, networking & up-skilling. Our community is designed to develop members' R skills & knowledge through social activities and collaborative learning & sharing.
