About the opportunity
Our Transport group employs more than 8,000 professionals who support clients with innovative solutions to efficiently move people and goods across the globe. We focus our efforts in Aviation, Bridge, Highway, Ports & Maritime, Planning Services, Transit & Rail and Tunnels.
An opportunity now exists for a Senior Bridge Engineer to join our Structures & Maritime team in our Melbourne office. Reporting to the Section Leader, this role requires technical output and direction in the design, rehabilitation and management of civil infrastructure within the Section and on projects; particularly for bridge structures.
You will have designed and assessed bridges in both the road and rail environment in Australia and have a desire to work on some of Victoria’s key infrastructure projects.
You will have demonstrated experience in the design process, co-ordination of work with other design disciplines and the efficient management and delivery of designs. You will have a practical knowledge of construction methods and accustomed to producing high quality solutions delivering projects to client’s expectations. You will be proficient in preparing technical specifications and tender advice notes.
Whilst previous experience with the management and leadership of small teams is not essential it would be beneficial to the growth of this role. Experience working in and managing work in a design and construct environment is highly recommended.
Experience in bidding and delivering a range of bridge engineering works for a variety of clients will be highly regarded. Your experience may include, bridge design, bridge rehabilitation, proof engineering and bridge inspection and load assessment.
The skills required are\:
- A high level of experience in delivering projects to required standards
- A self-starter who shows initiative and can lead small projects, input into proposals and carry out bridge design with little or no supervision
- A degree in engineering appropriate tertiary qualification in addition to relevant industry experience
- Recent experience must include the structural design for transport infrastructure related projects whilst bridge design and assessment experience is mandatory
- You will have applicable knowledge of design and documentation standards
- You will draw from extensive experience to undertake detailed structural analysis, calculations and design work
