Short Description: Database Administration and support.

Roles and Responsibilities:

•Identify server hardware, software and configurations necessary for running Oracle in an optimized manner.

•Perform Oracle standalone installation, DB creation and configuration, patching and upgrades in different environments.

•Perform Oracle GRID/RAC installation, DB creation with ASM configuration.

•Excellent knowledge on disaster recovery setup and Configure DR setup for databases wherever required.

•Knowledge on database migrations with hands on experience.

•Develop scripts , procedures and job for automated monitoring and proactive intervention, preventing customer impact.

•Work with application teams and technical leads to ensure project and service deliverables are met.

•Perform DB upgrades from current version to latest SOE version.

•Provide experts views to different application and project teams to maximize system availability, efficiency, and security.

•Follow different aspects of ITIL framework such as INC management, problem Management, change management etc.

•Assume ownership of database related problems, derive resolution and perform root cause analysis.

•Monitor and analyse database performance and make changes to optimize performance. Handling complex performance issues at Instance and query level and provide recommendations to different teams to optimize DB and SQL performance.

•Ensure security hardening of databases , control of access and regulatory compliance.

•Provide 24x7 support for databases, Solve problems in a timely manner, including off hours and weekend support when necessary.

•Responsible for validating the backup strategy and performing on demand backups/restores and develop new backup and recovery process using latest tools and technology as per requirement.

Skill/Competency Requirements:

Essential – 7+ years of relevant experience

•Oracle DBA Expertise

•PL/SQL

•Unix/ Shell Scripting

•SQL Tuning

•Database performance tuning and SQL tuning

•Production support and database monitoring

•Oracle SR

•Database refreshes, troubleshooting, and support

Preferred –

•DevOps knowledge

•Telecom Industry Domain

Additional skills:

•Time management

•Manage risk

•Good communication (verbal and written)

•Willingness to train others

•Ability to work and participate in a team environment

•Experienced in Agile Scrum or Agile Lean methodology
