About Nickel West A member of the BHP Group, Nickel West produces nickel in-concentrate and has its operations located throughout Western Australia - comprising mines, concentrators, a smelter and a refinery. Nickel West is rich in technical know-how, innovative and focused on transforming our business. We are taking advantage of the significant changes we can see occurring around the world, by supplying nickel sulphate to the New Energy market.
Nickel West Kalgoorlie is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Fitter) to join the MN20 Services Workshop Mechanical Maintenance team. This workshop is accountable for Sulphuric acid Process area, Oxygen Plant, Waste Heat boiler, Power house, Effluent plant, Compressor house, Gas and dust handling , High Speed rotating equipment , road and rail acid unloading and storage facility, fire, water and air services. Successful applicant will need to have a commitment to safety, attention to detail and have a great work ethic. The primary function of the MN20 Maintenance Technician is to support the preventative maintenance team, whose responsibilities include; inspection, diagnostics, servicing, adjustment and repair of fixed plant equipment and the overhaul and assembly of equipment in the Services area of Nickel West Kalgoorlie Smelter.
- Mechanical Fitter trade qualification is
- Solid post apprenticeship heavy industry
experience in fixed plant maintenance is required
- Experience with rotating machinery, compressors,
lubrication systems, acid plants, cooling towers, heat exchangers,
hydraulic, dust handling, dry precipitation and pneumatic conveying
equipment will be advantageous, however, not compulsory
- Sound problem identification and solving skills
- Ability to work autonomously but with a team
- Proven experience in being a safe and responsible
tradesperson with a "can do" attitude
- Ability to perform overtime and participate in an
- Current WA C class drivers licence
- Working at Heights, Confined Space, Forklift and
EWP tickets are beneficial
- Computer Literacy with Microsoft suite and
experience with SAP will be advantageous
