The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Road Designer to be a part of our Technical & Project Services within Roads and Maritime Services. This role will be based in Parkes.

In this role you will deliver road design, road design review in a project team environment. You will build your capability across the road design function, by undertaking work assignments in a variety of internal and external locations. You may have to travel occasionally to meet stakeholders.

You will undertake reviews and safety audits on internal and external designs, to ensure the consistent application of standards and technical excellence and provide technical advice for improved road design solutions. You will be responsible in providing relevant, timely and accurate advice to the Regional Design Manager to support decision making.

We are looking for a road designer who can prepare road designs in compliance with policies, standards, technical directions, guidelines, procedures and agreed requirements and contribute to the management of technical risk in road design. Experience in civil design and CADD would be an advantage.

The salary for this position is USS Grade 4-7 ($67,801 - $93,348) plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering or an associate degree in civil engineering discipline
  • Possess a current motor vehicle driver licence
  • Willingness to work outside normal working hours or to travel interstate on occasion
  • Ability to deliver competent road designs services and devising solutions in relation to road designs
  • Good problem solving and strong stakeholder management skills
