The ARC Centre of Excellence in Exciton Science (ACEx) is a newly established research centre funded over 7 years. It links research teams at RMIT University, the University of Melbourne, Monash University, UNSW and the University of Sydney. The primary mission of ACEx is to manipulate the way light energy is absorbed, transported and transformed in advanced molecular materials. The Centre plans to capture the knowledge generated as new intellectual property, materials processing know-how, high-impact publications and through the creation of new employment opportunities.
The Role & Your Responsibilities
You will join the RMIT Theoretical Chemical and Quantum Physics research group, with strong interactions with other research groups and institutions working under the ARC Centre of Excellence in Exciton Science (ACEx). You will work with Professor Salvy Russo’s team, focussing on theoretical and computational models of exciton transport, generation and recombination, optical and electronic properties of excitonic and photovoltaic materials. Key tasks of the role include theoretical research that contributes to the milestones of the research themes within ACEx, liaise and have frequent discussions with collaborators and prepare reports on research progress.
Skills & Experience Required
As the successful candidate, you will have a demonstrated ability to define, investigate and solve complex problems in theoretical physics and data analysis using various techniques and approaches. Previous research experience in modelling optical properties or modelling electronic transport in photovoltaic materials, modelling of Exciton generation and device modelling in photovoltaic systems will be highly regarded. Essential to this role, will be your outstanding mathematical and/or computer programming skills and demonstrated experience in techniques such as TD-DFT, GW Approximation, Bethe-Salpeter methods for modelling optical properties of photovoltaic materials. In addition, you are able to facilitate excellent publication record relative to opportunity.
