The School of Health and Biomedical Sciences comprises three Academic Clusters (Allied Health, Applied Health, and Biomedical Sciences). We undertake teaching and research across ten disciplines: Chinese Medicine, Chiropractic, Exercise Science, Human Biosciences, Laboratory Medicine, Medical Radiations, Nursing, Osteopathy, Pharmacy and Psychology.

The Discipline of Nursing offers programs that prepare students for employment in diverse and complex healthcare environments as the teaching is underpinned by a culture of academic excellence, innovative research, clinical practice and strong community partnerships. The revised BN curriculum being launched in 2019 has a significant consumer focus with an emphasis on diversity and preparing the graduate to be industry ready.

The Role & Your Responsibilities

An experienced Lecturer / Fellow is required to contribute to the teaching efforts of the School, within the Nursing discipline. More specifically, you will be responsible for conducting teaching activities within the undergraduate and postgraduate programs (if appropriate), and for maintaining and advancing scholarly, professional and research capabilities. You are expected to actively promote the RMIT nursing programs by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. The lecturer may be required to assist with clinical placement co-ordination.

Skills & Experience Required

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in preparing and delivering courses at undergraduate and, if appropriate, postgraduate levels including online delivery. The appointee will also possess the ability to produce high quality course and program materials, undertake the role of course coordinator and contribute to undergraduate program design. You require an emerging track record of industry engagement or research excellence. Knowledge of using learning delivery systems such as CANVAS will be highly regarded. In addition, you have demonstrated professional nursing practice within the past five years and experience working within the higher education sector.

Mandatory Qualifications

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse. PhD or evidence of extensive industry engagement (7 years recent experience as a registered nurse).
