The opportunity

We have a rare opportunity for an influential project manager to join us as Senior Manager Sydney Portfolio at Roads and Maritime Services (RMS). You will be leading a multi-disciplinary team within the Sydney Planning branch in prioritising the portfolio of capital projects across Sydney’s road network, for investment in planning and delivery. This role is pivotal in shaping the road network to meet Sydney’s future needs.

Taking ownership of the development, prioritisation and management of Sydney’s 10 year portfolio for capital investment, which includes a large number of proposals seeking new funding and projects that are already underway, you will be empowered to progress projects through their life cycle. You will work closely with the Director Sydney Interface Management developing and implementing a comprehensive framework for prioritising project proposals, and a rigorous approach to managing the portfolio and reporting on its status. You will be at the forefront of responding to the needs for growth, improvement and asset management of Sydney’s extensive road network. These include systems for efficient travel, safer roads, smart motorways, active transport and easing congestion.

You will be an influential and collaborative communicator, able to negotiate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders with competing interests, and manage complex processes to achieve the desired outcomes. Your extensive background in project, program and portfolio management, particularly with infrastructure projects, will give you the confidence to effect transformative change across the department and deliver on our commitment to the people of NSW.

To be successful in this role, you will hold yourself to the highest level of integrity and be driven by the achievement of positive outcomes. You will take pride in delivering and reporting results that are on-time and on-budget, while constantly evaluating progress to improve future planning processes. This role offers the opportunity for managing complex strategic project and program elements, with prospects for developing a network of high-profile relationships across the public and private sector.

We are looking for a dynamic individual who is ready to take on the unique challenges associated with planning and delivering capital projects across an ever-changing and complex landscape. If you are ready to make a real impact, meet customer and community expectations and leave a legacy of achievement that will last for generations, register your interest today.
