The role and team
Our Sydney Equity Capital Markets team is experiencing ongoing and exciting growth, as they continue to act for many of Australia's top 100 companies and leading multinationals. Working with our National Head of Equity Capital Markets (ECM), Stuart Byrne, this is an exceptional opportunity for a Senior Lawyer / Associate to join a close-knit, solid and highly successful team.
As the successful candidate, you will play a leading role on key aspects of large and high-profile transactions. This will include advising companies, funds and major investment banks across the full spectrum of unlisted and listed fund raising transactions on initial public offerings/IPOs and follow-on capital raisings, including rights issues, accelerated renounceable and non-renounceable entitlement offers, placements, share purchase plans and dividend reinvestment plans. The team also regularly work with foreign investors, applying a fine-tuned understanding of their capital raisings needs in or from Australia.
As a senior member of the team, you will have significant exposure to clients and directly manage client relationships. You will be an independent thinker who is comfortable leading, managing and mentoring more junior members of this dynamic team.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- 5 - 8 years' post-qualified experience in a (preferably top-tier) firm environment within an ECM/corporate practice (experience working on hybrid or debt capital raisings is a plus)
- An in-depth understanding of corporate governance, continuous disclosure, executive and employee incentive plans, and on mergers and acquisitions.
- The ability to prioritise your time across a number of busy matters, and drive matters forward.
- A strong client service focus and work ethic; great resilience
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills - required for building and directly maintaining client relationships
- Self- motivation with a commercial focus and an entrepreneurial flair
- The ability to lead, manage, mentor and motivate a team.
- Ability to see the big picture but handle the detail
