About the Role
BHP Iron Ore is one of the world’s leading suppliers of iron ore. The Company’s operations currently involve an integrated system of seven inland mines, an extensive rail network and two separate port facilities. Reporting to the Manager Production Scheduling (Eastern Pilbara), the Superintendent Production Scheduling is responsible for delivering mine plans and mine designs within the Weekly and 2 Year horizon (inclusive of yearly Budget).
The Superintendent Production Scheduling translates the annual strategic mine plan direction into executable mine schedules, ensuring alignment to the supply chain demand, and providing leadership to the Production Scheduling team, empowering them to deliver a high standard of work and maintain strong engagements with operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Identify and frame the risks and opportunities associated with the operation and intrinsic to the mine plans, and present quarterly to the leadership teams.
- Ensuring the elements within the mine schedules that influence value and costs are communicated appropriately with leadership teams.
- Continually monitor the culture of the Production scheduling team to maintain an environment fit for high performance and collaboration.
- Lead, coach and mentor future leaders within the Production Scheduling team
- Monitor compliance to plan and investigate any significant deviations

Your interpersonal skills will foster collaborative working relationships across our Geoscience, Engineering, Studies and Operational Teams. In addition to demonstrated ability to consolidate and analyse information, you will have the skills and knowledge to provide critical thinking and a solution-focused attitude.
Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering, other related disciplines such as Engineering and Geoscience, and/or significant mine site experience.
Resource industry and site based experience
Capability with a Mining CAD package (such as Vulcan)
Capability with mine planning and/or scheduling software
Working on a Fly in Fly 5/2 4/3 roster out basis at our Western Australia Iron Ore operations, you will enjoy outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages including; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, netted soccer court, tennis and basketball court, beach volleyball court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis, TV and DVD player. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
