Resources within the PS&D team work in a global ‘pool’ and move between areas, balancing individual career aspirations and business priorities.
About the role
We are seeking a motivated professional to join our team in one of our Australian regional offices (Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide). You will primarily work with individuals in the PS&D team to evaluate and support strategic initiatives and opportunities across the BHP portfolio, spanning strategy, business development and M&A transactions. The role will require building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, an ability to influence upward and to work independently and comfortably in cross-functional team settings, spanning multiple time zones.
On each assignment, you will be asked to challenge established thinking, frame problems, analyse issues, develop solutions, coordinate team work and summarise findings and recommendations in effective and concisely written memos or presentations that will assist with executive decision making.
As a member of the PS&D Resource Pool and having regards to your preferences, the role offers strong development prospects with potential assignments spanning the entire spectrum of activities that are core to PS&D and informing strategic recommendations for business critical portfolio decisions.
Skills and Other Qualifications
You will have successfully completed a finance, economics, business, undergraduate degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience in commodity trading, market analysis, or consulting at a major resources company, investment bank or a strategic consulting firm. Broadening post graduate qualification such as a CFA designation and international experience within the resources industry are highly desirable.

Your career to date will testify to your ability to perform board-level analysis, underpinned by your understanding of the key drivers of shareholder value. In addition you have demonstrated competency in presenting critical issues and recommendations to senior management audiences.
Energetic and results driven, you are a team player and able to build long lasting and effective working relationships. You can understand a business problem in the context of the external environment and how each may influence the other. You establish credibility through a respectful and engaging style backed by solid analytical skills. You embrace strong work ethic and integrity values, work well under pressure, bring attention to detail, have an ability to meet multiple and competing deadlines and can influence outcomes without formal authority.
