Take your career to the next level with us.

We’re building Australia’s largest infrastructure and along the way some of Australia’s finest careers. We offer flexibility, equal opportunity, and great training programs to accelerate your career.

RDE (Regional Development and Engagement) is a new business unit that has been created to lift the digital capability of regional Australians. A critical success factor in achieving the business unit’s objectives is being truly customer-focused on everything we do.

The Strategy & Policy Manager will play an integral role in building the strategy, arguments, and policy foundation for delivering positive outcomes to regional Australia. The role will provide strategic advice to the GM, Strategy and Transformation and the Chief Development Officer, whilst also directing & collaborating with key Business Units and within Regional Development and Engagement (RDE).

A bit about your role

Reporting to the Executive Manager, the Manager Strategy and Policy position is a highly visible role and will be responsible for supporting major strategic initiatives across complex, cross-company projects.

This will involve solving complex business problems by applying a hypothesis-led approach to problem-solving while determining and designing an appropriate analytical framework and sourcing relevant data points to conduct the analysis and engaging with the senior leadership team to build buy-in and support to project approach and recommendations.

Evaluating strategic options and clearly articulating the key implications to RDE and nbn, synthetising key insights and findings, and translating them into actionable recommendations for the business and developing complex, flexible financial models to support advice/recommendations while undertaking research on several topics and different business models (e.g., new revenue streams, cost benchmarking, digitisation, among others).

A bit about you

You would hold a university degree ideally with an honour’s qualification (post-grad qualification desirable – e.g., CA, CPA, CFA, or MBA) with 3 - 5 years of experience in strategy and/or transactional roles, either through a top tier strategy consulting firm, strategy team of a large corporate, an investment bank or Big 4 accounting firm.

You would be highly proficient at problem-solving, with demonstrable experience in decomposing a problem into constituent parts and designing an appropriate analytical framework to solve it while having the ability to autonomously structure and drive complex, and often ambiguous, analyses/projects/requests with limited supervision, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to changing needs.

Proficient at simplifying complex ideas in written and verbal communication, with proven ability to develop and present compelling presentations to senior executives.

Excellent financial modeling skills, with the ability to structure, design and develop complex financial models (inc. DCF valuation, equity analysis models for the purposes of supporting strategic recommendations)
