With this in place and in mind, we have an exciting opportunity for an Information Systems Consultant that specialises in Mining Operational Technology to contribute their Fleet Management systems expertise to a current EHS initiative to reduce and manage driver fatigue across our Bauxite mine sites.

Reporting into our Information Technology Automation Solutions (ITAS) Manager – Mining Solutions, you will play a vital role in identifying, analysing and recommending the best possible fleet monitoring system that will support our Mining functions and provide design and application support including the development and maintenance of system interfaces and scripts.

Working alongside a team of technical specialists on leading-edge technology, a day in the life of this role may involve:

  • Assisting our customers across mining to fulfil their roles using the mining business and manufacturing applications supported by Alcoa ITAS.

  • Identifying and resolving technical system issues for the Fleet Monitoring and Production Management application systems that you will be responsible for.

  • Managing fatigue and collision management application configuration, API and webservices integration and reporting.

  • Improving the efficiency of the existing and newly developed solutions and technologies through effective communication, change management, timely planning and execution of training and coaching of customers and end users.

  • Writing new and modifying existing reports and application development to meet authorised, specified user requirements within agreed timelines and budgets.

  • Rapidly executing proof of concepts and implementing minimal viable product of these solutions, working closely with business customers to ensure agile deployment across Mining.

About you

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or related field.

  • A deep understanding of the mining processes and associated functions along with the technologies that support the mining business.

  • Demonstrated experience working with mining applications such as but not limited to Hexagon Jigsaw; CAT ProductLink; iVolve; Wabtech CAS.

  • Working knowledge of the following will be advantageous: Hexagon MineProtect; dotNetix Nexus; Trimble GNSS; mRoc Argus, OSI Soft PI Data Archive and Asset Framework, SQL databases, queries and tools, Powershell, Python, MS Visual Studio, API, Interfaces and web services, Cloud Application Services and Manufacturing Execution Systems.

  • Strong commercial acuity along with the experience in reviewing technical solution proposals and working within a structured project management environment.
