We are seeking to appoint Manager Resource Tenure (IR030294) and Manager Resource Access (IR073804) for immediate start.

By joining the Resource Tenure Division, you will join a dynamic team which is value-driven and committed to enabling the government priority outcome of Western Australia (WA). It will afford you a great opportunity to work in the world renowned resource sector of the WA Government. In addition, as part of the whole of government collaboration, as a manager, you may engage with key stakeholders including Aboriginal traditional owners, resource industry, local governments and community to deliver resource-related priority outcomes for the State.

This recruitment process aims to establish a shortlist of suitable applicants for similar at level opportunities that arise within the division over the next twelve (12) months.

The positions

Within the Resource and Environmental Regulation Group, the Resource Tenure Division is responsible for administering the granting of tenure for resource exploration and production, and facilitates access to land for resource activities.

The managers in the Resource Tenure Division manage the mining and resource activities in the allocated area within the Western Australia (WA) and are responsible for ensuring procedures and practices are undertaken in accordance with the relevant Acts and legislation, including mining and petroleum legislation, Native Title Act 1993 and various State Agreements and Acts. You will lead the teams across WA in handling complex applications and dealings in resource tenure and licences, and the administration of relevant resource legislation affecting the resources industry.

To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate appropriate leadership behaviour, and have a good understanding of the policy and legislation processes related to resources industry. You will also need to demonstrate your ability to manage change in policy directions and introduce innovative work practices.

This position is located in East Perth (however, you may need to work at other sites as required).

What are we looking for?

Manager Resource Tenure - IR030294

  • Knowledge of policy and legislation processes relevant to the resources industry.
  • Knowledge of the administration of resources legislation and title registration.
  • Ability to manage organisational change including changes in policy direction and the introduction of innovative work practices.

Manager Resource Access – IR073804

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the management of land access issues associated with resource sector exploration, development, production, construction or infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of Native Title Act and other Indigenous/land administration legislation and policy related to resource activities and land access.
  • Demonstrates appropriate leadership behaviour, takes responsibility, promotes accountability and motivates others.
