Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.
We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.
Over the next 40 years, Sydney’s population is projected to swell to over 12 million residents and regional NSW will accommodate an extra 700,000 people. Transport for NSW is delivering an unprecedented $72.2b investment into a truly game changing Future Transport strategy which will bring together several modes and cutting edge technologies to deliver satisfaction and safety for our customers while supporting a rapidly growing economy.
The Customer Strategy and Technology team within Transport leads the development of long-term, multi-modal strategies, plans and policies across NSW. We leverage data and insights, implement new technologies, drive innovation and build partnerships to provide customer-centred solutions.
Right now, we have an opportunity for a Senior Data Analyst to join us in our Customer Strategy and Technology division within the Technology and Innovation branch. The role undertakes the acquisition, quality assurance, analysis, interpretation, manipulation and dissemination of spatial and operational data to provide trusted data services supporting business and customer outcomes.
What you will be involved in:
- Identify potential data sources external to the business, assess for fitness of purpose and assist with integration in operational data systems.
- Liaise with internal and external business stakeholders, to ensure quality in the provision and maintenance of TfNSW operational data sets and supporting information management systems
- Contribute to ensuring the security, integrity, quality and availability of all forms of data and data structures that make up the TfNSW's data sets
- Ensure that approved policies, standards, methodologies and processes are consistently implemented in systems development, operational activities, and administrative activities
You will hold tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or demonstrated, relevant, equivalent professional experience.
You will have experience working as part of a high performing cohesive team and always be prepared to take on new challenges and different learning styles.
You will engage different stakeholders to retrieve the required information and requirement of data, interface and quality, analyse various format/volume of data set to present current state of data landscape, identify opportunities for data integration and quality, assist development team to implement solution and provide on-going evaluation and support for continuous improvement.
You will contribute to data knowledge management practice by documenting data issues and resolutions, sharing analytical methodology and solutions, encouraging reusability and scalability of analytical solutions.
You will enjoy working in a fact paced, dynamic environment with an aptitude for analytical and problem solving skills coupled with demonstrated experience in database, operating systems and programs.

Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is TfNSW Grade 8 ($118,015 - $132,176) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
