Reporting to the Managing Editor – Distribution, you will be responsible for driving new commercial opportunities and managing partner activations for the AFL social media network. You will be working closely with several internal departments and external partners. You will identify, develop and deliver on social commercial opportunities, from branded content campaigns, to the marketing of AFL products and events, as well as managing direct partnerships with the social platforms.

  • Identifying new opportunities within the social content plan for partner integration

  • Proactively and creatively identifying ways to work with social platforms to achieve content and strategic objectives

  • Providing clear direction to other members of the social team to ensure campaign delivery

  • Exceeding partner expectations at every turn

  • Establishing reporting processes upon which various stakeholders can derive meaningful insights

  • Ensuring constant collaboration between AFL Social and AFL Partnership teams

  • Aligning organic and paid content schedules in collaboration with Social Audience Leads

  • Demonstrating a passion for innovative social content that partners can align with

  • Analysing social campaign data to evaluate performance and refine strategies as appropriate

  • Collaborating on social growth strategies with the broader AFL Social team

  • Staying front and centre and ahead of social media trends

  • Identifying patterns and learnings from AFL social media audience data

  • Working to deadlines and finding a fast pace to thrive in


  • Proficiency with all leading social media platforms

  • Strong written communication skills

  • Deep understanding of social advertising platforms such as Facebook Ads and Twitter Amplify

  • An understanding of social revenue opportunities such as YouTube and Facebook Ad Break

  • Proficiency with social analytics platforms

  • A background in either social media or commercial partnerships

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency in analysing insights and generating reports

  • Experience working with brands, influencers and social platforms is desirable

  • Knowledge of Australian Football and its players is desirable

  • Experience developing branded content campaigns in a tactical way is desirable

  • Proficiency with SocialBakers or other key third-party social media tools is desirable
