  • The role

  • At their core, Senior Design Consultants are creative thinkers who can communicate abstract and novel ideas, run ethnographic research to distil valuable insights, and are extremely comfortable with both ambiguity and iteration. They are curious, empathetic and collaborative folk who have a passion for developing junior designers, co-designing with clients and finding fresh angles in the work.

  • Senior design consultants create visual assets to help land a strategy or customer proposition. They own our futures, trends and ethnographic research, distilling insights and pushing what the client can imagine. They run ideation and testing sessions with customers and clients. Critically, they produce and enhance the thinking and content of the work- which could be anything from a new purpose and vision for a mining corporation to a new marketplace for media.

  • What will you be doing and with whom?

  • You will be a hands-on contributor to teams that include Senior Managers, Directors and clients, collaborating on projects to:

    • Be a creative thought partner to senior members of the team
    • Understand client needs, including business strategies, market context and user research
    • Own design research, trends research and the distillation of futures
    • Help design and deliver ideation workshops
    • Oversee visual development of abstract concepts and new ideas for the market
    • Develop and mentor junior designers
    • Begin to co-design proposition and strategy with clients
    • Document project outcomes and produce client presentation material, from low to high fidelity as required (e.g. sketches, diagrams, PowerPoint slide decks, refined graphics and illustrations and polished, posters/ bound presentation material created in InDesign)
    • Build tools and activities that support and facilitate group interactions
    • Aid in project management and build relationships with clients which enhance outcomes and lead to an ongoing collaboration
    • Capture and synthesise conversations, workshops and customer research
    • Collaborate actively across the Accenture & Accenture Interactive Ecosystem, celebrating diverse thinking and connecting multi-disciplinary teams
  • What will you be responsible for?

  • Your main responsibilities will be to:

    • own ethnographic and trends research, distilling useful insights for strategy and innovation
    • contribute strategic and creative thinking to lift the quality of thinking and project outputs
    • create impactful visual content that aids the development, discussion or presentation of project work
    • create a visual language for presentation materials that is best suited to the needs of the client and the intent of the project
    • synthesise and capture research insight
    • ensure the quality and consistency of all branded documentation/products
    • manage print production timelines, including setting content deadlines for project teams accordingly and managing relationship with printers when necessary
    • balance your time and contribution across multiple projects
    • support project teams as needed, which may include activities such as note taking during client or customer interviews and photographing client interactions during workshops
  • What knowledge and capabilities will you draw on?

  • You will be well-suited for this position if you have:

    • strong graphic design skills, including experience in information and document design
    • strong visual thinking skills, including aptitude for representing ideas through conceptual drawings or illustrations
    • strength in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat) as well as Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
    • good attention to detail, including typography, colour, image, and document set-up
    • excellent communication skills, including written and verbal as well as visual
    • capability and confidence to carry projects through from concept (early brief, sketches) to completion (highly polished print output)
    • an understanding of iterative prototyping and constructive critique as an essential part of the design process

    • You are passionate about user-based design and have experience with related communication tools such as customer experience maps, stakeholder diagrams, experience blueprints etc.
    • You are interested, or have experience participating, in industry-related activities such as conferences, speaking engagements, publications or courses
    • You have experience with or exposure to user research, either to better understand user’s problems or to test prototypes
  • What qualifications and experiences will be relevant?

  • You will be well-suited for this position if you have:

    • an undergraduate degree in Visual Communication, Industrial Design, Information Design, Digital Media or another equivalent degree
    • 2+ years industry experience in a similar role
  • Salary range for this role: $105,000 – $135,000
