We’re looking for an experienced People Manager to join our Road Maintenance team in Hastings. As the Contract Manager you will be responsible for overall delivery of maintenance and renewal works on the Hastings Urban and Plains Road Maintenance Contract.

About the role
As our Contract Manager, your primary focus will be on the leadership and oversight of the civil teams to deliver the maintenance and renewal work load as required. You will excel in client relations management and have strong financial management skills including budget management and forecasting. You will be focussed on workforce development and creating effective operational structures, to develop a strong and motivated team. Ultimately, with your development the teams will have an aptitude for planning and execution with safety, quality and productivity in mind, and will be able to achieve superior results in these key areas.

Reporting to the Hawke’s Bay Maintenance Operations Manager, you will be embedded amongst a team of experts within an industry-leading organisation. About you
You’ll need to be a collaborative leader who strives for excellence and balances it with your adaptable communication style and be a proven successful people leader with preferably experience within Road Maintenance, Utilities and/or Construction. You’ll also have:

  • A strong track record of positive leadership behaviours that empower others
  • The ability to create and deliver a strong customer focus culture, and a collaborative approach to develop client relationships
  • An understanding of strategic asset management and local authority activities
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Proven track record in developing a culture that supports Health and Safety management, encouraging and rewarding excellence.
  • Tertiary qualification, preferably in Business Management or Civil Engineering
