About the role

We are looking for a Supervisor Rail Operations to develop, maintain, improve and assess the competencies of Network Locomotive Drivers and Train Examiners in order to provide safe and efficient operations. This is a residential role, based out of Karratha on a 4D4X4N4X roster.

This role is a great opportunity to join a large-scale operation and oversee a skilled team in the successful delivery of operational activities.

Reporting to the Superintendent Operations, you will:

  • Manage equipment provided to the team in support of their activities and ensure appropriate allocation of resources to achieve planned outcomes
  • Develop, review and update procedures and training documentation for all areas of work
  • Achieve safety and environmental performance as per targets and facilitate the achievement of direct report’s KPI's
  • Monitor and measure team performance to ensure that safety, production and cost targets are met
  • Assist the Superintendent Operations in the successful operations and in the application of the Performance Management System
  • Ensure that the budget is managed in accordance with the plan and deliver improvements through LEAN and other improvement initiatives

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Sound knowledge of operational requirements for rail operations
  • Relevant trade qualifications
  • Knowledge of Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations
  • Experience in bulk materials handling sector or related industry, particularly related to an operational work environment
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office, SAP & other information systems (e.g. HOSDI)
  • Effective planning and time management skills
  • C Class driver's licence
  • Frontline management qualification or similar will be well regarded

Where you will be working

Our privately owned and operated rail network is an essential part of our integrated production process and services our 15 mines across the Pilbara via 1,700km of track. With depots located at Tom Price, Cape Lambert and Dampier (7 Mile), each train is operated by a single driver and comprises up to three locomotives and 240 ore cars stretching to approximately 2.7 kilometres in length with over 40 trains operating per day. We are also applying and adapting technology to improve safety and productivity across our rail network.
