Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.
We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.
About the team
The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.
Right now, we have a permanent full-time opportunity for a Team Leader to join us in the Regional Maintenance Delivery team in Hay, NSW.
The area of operation may include maintenance and construction of new/established pavements, roadside fixtures and signage as well as the application of road marking materials and bituminous sealing materials.
You will be responsible for short term planning, assisting and organising these activities whilst leading a team of up to 8 individuals. You will ensure the team follows quality systems and employs safe methods of work, as well as:
- Problem evaluation and continuous improvement processes
- Record keeping
- Supervision of minor contracts associated with team’s activities
- Facilitating team meetings, processes and encourage team engagement and suggestions for improvement
- Conflict resolution and team development
- Ensuring equity within the team
- Adhere to Work Health & Safety inspections
This role will allow you to develop your skills and gain exposure to types of work that you just won’t find anywhere else.
You may also be required to work outside normal working hours. You must be able to attend after hour call-outs as well as be prepared to travel throughout the state and work at locations away from the base station.
We are looking for a born people leader and safety professional with the ability to overcome and remove obstacles in the course of work. You will be an excellent communicator with great people skills and the ability to positively negotiate and influence across a diverse audience.
Most important during your works, is your passion to maintain a safe work zone for colleagues and public, reinforced by your ability to follow appropriate safe working procedures.
We want you to be your best, and will provide you with opportunities to work flexibly, and develop your skills.
You must hold a:
- Class C Driver license or above,
- White Card, and
- Traffic control certificates (upon commencement of role)
Additionally, experience in previous leadership roles or safety committee involvement will be highly advantageous.
Wage and Benefits
The wage for this position is $1,376.90 per week plus super + allowances per the award.
