About the team

The Infrastructure and Place (IP) division is in the process of delivering an ambitious and once-in-a generation multi-billion program of transport infrastructure works which will ease congestion, improve safety, create new places and connect communities for generations to come. The role sits within the Development branch, which is responsible for the development of infrastructure and place projects that facilitate economic, social and environmental outcomes for the people of NSW.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Project Director Commercial Development Projects, you will be responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary team across the areas of transport requirements, planning and site clearance. This includes managing processes to ensure sites are available and suitable for development; to identify, define and deliver transport requirements that will be integrated with property development integrated with the transport network; and to provide planning advice on property development options.

The role supports both the Development and Capital Transaction teams to define and evaluate transport requirements integrated with property development that enhances value and utilisation of government-owned property and delivers place making outcomes for the community.

It’s no secret that you will encounter challenges in this role. The stakes are high and the pressure is on as we deal with budget and time constraints, interface issues and public scrutiny. About you

We are looking for a natural leader to manage a team of transport requirements, planning and clearance professionals and technical experts, with the ability to drive performance in a complex, politically and commercially sensitive environment. As this role is both externally and internally facing, you will have experience in developing strong relationships at a senior level to lead commercial thinking and provide enhanced outcomes. Superior senior stakeholder management skills will be key to your success! You are a team player, strong collaborator, adaptable, pro-active and not afraid of getting involved to actively develop solutions to challenges across the various domains of this role.

You will have strong project management capabilities, a demonstrated understanding on how to integrate existing asset and transport requirements into commercial outcomes. You will probably have a background in transport planning or infrastructure design, with the ability to strategise land development options such as land rezoning or modification. Whilst you might have prior work experience in consultancy, advisory, property development or delivery firms, you will have a well-grounded understanding of government processes.

Salary and Benefits

This is a Transport Senior Service role (TSSE1A) offering an attractive remuneration package. The role is based in CBD close to Town Hall Station.
