We are seeking a talented Systems and Platforms Engineer who has the experience necessary to help bridge the gap between hardware and software infrastructure to ensure a smooth and successful transformation into cloud services. You will contribute to building DMIRS into a high-performance innovative organisation by supporting the design, implementation, operational support and life-cycle management of the Department's business platforms and ICT foundation systems both on and off-premise. The role contributes to the strategic and operational planning of the IT Operations Branch.
In this role, you will provide ongoing operational support to the Department's business systems, platforms and messaging infrastructure to ensure the availability, reliability, performance, capacity and recoverability of core services, business systems and disaster readiness facilities for its on and off premise locations. You will maintain broad knowledge state-of-art technology, equipment and systems.
A suitable candidate will demonstrate relevant knowledge and experience, and possess a high level of analytical, interpersonal and effective communication skills to work collaboratively with stakeholders.
This position is located in East Perth (however, you may be required to work at other sites as required)

What are we looking for?
To be considered further, please submit a detailed CV and covering letter (of no more than 2 pages) addressing the following;
- Demonstrated good knowledge and experience in the system administration of Windows Server and Linux servers within a large distributed on-premise network spanning into significant cloud services, including installation configuration maintenance monitoring tuning backup and recovery.
- Demonstrated good knowledge and experience in the specification, programming or scripting within an infrastructure context, or familiarity with the use of scripts in an infrastructure context.
- Demonstrated good knowledge and experience in installing, configuring and administering a range of platforms including Active Directory, hybrid-Exchange, storage, anti-spam and anti-virus software, cloud infrastructure and server virtualisation technologies.
