About the team

The Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport (SMWSA) project team is responsible for delivering the city-shaping project that will become the transport spine for the Greater Western Sydney region.

The new circa $11 billion railway will connect travellers from the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport to the rest of Sydney’s public transport system with a fast, safe and easy metro service. The project is a key commitment of the Western Sydney City Deal. Both the Australian and NSW governments have a shared objective of having SMWSA operational when the airport opens for passenger services.

This exciting project is set to breathe new life into Western Sydney, fuelling growth for generations to come and connecting communities with the new airport, jobs and services, delivering better access to employment opportunities, health and education facilities and leisure activities across Greater Sydney.

The opportunity

Right now, we have an opportunity for a Senior Manager Risk to join our once-in-a-generation infrastructure project. Reporting to the Director PMO, this is a senior role where you will lead the risk function for our Western Sydney Airport project, working with leaders across the business to develop and implement risk strategies, facilitate workshops, maintain the risk register and lead all risk reporting to the Executive team.

Providing strong leadership to a small team comprised of a Risk Manager, Risk Analyst and Consultant, you will drive best practices and ensure the team successfully achieves its objectives.

About you

As an experienced Risk Management leader, you will leverage your prior experience managing a risk function for a major infrastructure project. Experience in rail will be highly regarded. You will be a first class communicator, with demonstrated strength and ability in stakeholder management and team leadership.

You will hold tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Safety, Quality or a commercial discipline and bring significant prior experience in a similar role which required the identification, assessment and management of risk for a large infrastructure project.
