About the opportunity
We are excited to invite a passionate, improvement-focused Environmental professional to join our centralized team based at Alcoa’s Huntly Bauxite Mine. As the Environmental Superintendent – Improvements and Projects, you will be leading a small team accountable for environmental improvement projects and supporting WA mining projects and site operations across our Huntly and Willowdale Bauxite Mine sites. Work Monday to Friday each week, with one Leisure Day off every four weeks, drive in and out from site daily, and return to the luxury of your home each night!
This is a busy yet rewarding role with a variety of focuses identified in the environmental strategic and annual plans, including engaging relevant stakeholders, presenting business cases and creating and executing projects to schedule. Support for WA mining projects includes being the environmental lead, ensuring environmental responsibilities, standards and objectives are achieved and supporting government submissions via the Senior Environmental Scientist – Approvals, Compliance and EMS.
About you
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
Relevant tertiary qualifications (minimum bachelor’s degree in environmental science or a related field)
Excellent organisational skills and a self-driven approach to work
Previous experience in an environmental improvement project environment including development of business cases and engaging with multiple stakeholders to achieve outcomes through influencing others
Previous leadership experience will be highly regarded.
Alcoa's mining operations are located within State Forest in the Darling Range. Alcoa’s strategic objective to maintain access for mining requires identification of risks, implementation of risk management and improvement initiatives and demonstration of environmental performance, with particular focus on catchment protection, rehabilitation of mining areas, environmental conservation and compliance with legislation.
The Environmental Superintendent – Improvements and Projects is a key role in the sustaining operations in relation to the above challenges.
