The Legal Entity Controller (LEC) team is responsible for the financial reporting, governance and control of Australia & New Zealand Legal Entities. This includes analyzing and reporting financial and management results to key internal and external stakeholders of the Bank.

The Finance team plays an instrumental role in ensuring the Banks controls are operating effectively, partnering with Businesses across the Bank to assist them in reaching their potential and providing guidance and support to all areas of the Bank in developing plans, in line with location and regional initiatives

Your key responsibilities will include:

Legal Entity Controller focus:

  • Review and responsibility for the accuracy of financial statements of the legal entity for submissions to Head Office
  • Review and responsibility of the accuracy of regulatory reports to the Australia and New Zealand Regulatory Authorities;
  • Preparation of monthly financial reports and presentation of financials to the Board of Directors/Branch Governance Committee;
  • Overview and management of offshore support staff involving regular communications;
  • Communications with regional management including attending regular phone conferences, answer ad hoc queries as well resolving any reporting issues;
  • Drive system and process improvements within team;
  • Regular communications with the businesses management including attending to ad-hoc reporting, analysis and system requests;
  • Communications with regional management including attending to reference data improvements and issues;
  • Preparing ad-hoc reports & presentations as requested by SFO

Regulatory Focus :

  • Oversee the implementation of new regulatory reporting tool, a key project;
  • Oversight of the preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual regulatory returns to APRA;
  • Oversight of investigation and response to APRA follow-up questions as required
  • Liaise with business and LOB Controllers as required;

To be successful you will need:

  • Minimum of 10 years relevant working experience along with CA/CPA qualified with strong technical accounting skills and experience in regulatory reporting
  • Technical knowledge must be current and detailed knowledge of A-IFRS along with Finance industry knowledge
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills combined with good analytical skills with an eye for detail
  • Proactive approach to ensure timely resolution of issues and implementation of system and procedural improvements
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively with a variety of teams including teams within and outside the Finance area
  • Superior interpersonal skills and excellent time management and organisational abilities
  • Leadership and management skills to effectively manage a team of 3+ team members
  • Advanced MS Excel skills will be beneficial
