|Job Type:||Full Time|
Metallurgical coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. This is achieved through the effective leadership of the planning team to deliver best practise mine planning services and support to the mine. These activities are undertaken in compliance with relevant legislative requirements and Capcoal Safety Health Management System.
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will act as the prominent technical advisor on our Draglines, Drill and Blast, Truck and Shovel design, planning and scheduling for our Capcoal Surface Operations. Relevant Experience / Skills & Knowledge:
- Superintendent level or equivalent leadership experience within mining operations (preferably Coal)
- Demonstrated experience leading a team of professionals to deliver against set targets
- Experience in driving best practise through your department and into the business. This includes the development and implementation of strategy in line with business goals.
- Ability to understand functionality of business systems and extract relevant data for business purposes

- Experience in development and control of departmental budget and expenditure
To be successful in the role, you will hold a bachelor’s degree of Mining Engineering (or equivalent), combined with proven mining experience in Dragline, Truck & Shovel and Drill & Blast for open cut coal operations.
You will have astute business acumen and demonstrated experience in leading a team of professionals to deliver against targets. Your strong interpersonal and negotiation skills as well as your ability to drive performance will be key to your success in the role.
As well as a very competitive salary package, this is a full-time, permanent role working a Monday to Friday roster with subsidised accommodation and flights options available.
