Lawyer (2-3 PQE) - Environment & Planning

The role

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Lawyer with 2-3 years post qualification experience to join our Melbourne Environment & Planning team on a full time basis. The team are recruiting these additional resources following the successful appointment of several new high profile projects.

These positions will give the successful applicants the opportunity to work with a market leading team in this dynamic practice and growth legal area. The roles will focus on both public and private sector clients working on a diverse range of regulatory and planning issues such as new developments seeking approvals, major infrastructure projects (rail and road) and you will advise local governments and assist clients with environmental compliance. You will work extensively with other practice areas within Clayton Utz as part of project teams.


Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in Environmental and or Planning law
  • Knowledge of regulatory matters and possess strong client-facing capability
  • Strong academic achievements
  • Familiarity with Supreme/Federal Court litigation and Land court litigation
  • The ability to work independently and autonomously and a strong work ethic
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; required for building client relationships and maintaining a positive team environment

In addition to this, we're looking for a resilient, self-starter. Someone who is able to work autonomously and is focused on attention to detail and providing an outstanding service to their clients.


The Environment & Planning team

Our Environment and Planning Practice Group guides clients through the complex web of planning laws. The planning law in each State is complex, so we specialise in all areas of planning law including environmental impact assessment requirements for proposed developments and infrastructure and liaising with regulatory authorities.
