This position offers an opportunity to have a meaningful influence ona revolutionarytechnology. The research effort includes a diversestaff of theoreticaland experimental physicists, hardware designers and software engineers around the world.Our Sydney lab, based at the University of Sydneycampus in Camperdown, is looking for an experiencedElectricalEngineerto bring life to new research and lead the field of quantumcomputing.


This role involves deep, hands-on technical workina small,collaborative,environment. We are looking for someone who isas passionate about their own contribution as they areempoweringand inspiring others.This person will be responsible forcontributing to thetechnicaldirection of the researchbased on experimental results,program needs and the input fromcross-functionalcolleagues.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Perform hands on testing activities of custom ASICs and electronic hardware.
  • Development ofelectronichardware design and test documentation.
  • Participate in the full electronic test lifecycle including specification, estimation, design, test execution, debug, and report.
  • Usinglab best practices and protocols.
  • Workingin accordancewithhealth and safetypolicies andtakingcare that your actions do notimpacton the health and safety of yourself or others.
  • Ensure hazards and risks are identified and controlled for within your area of responsibility.



The successful candidatewill have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor(4 year or Honours) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 4+years’ experiencein electronic hardware design and/or test.
  • Experience with building test electronic setups,PCBdesign, and data capture using Python.
  • Experience using data acquisition hardware and software.

Desired Skills:

  • Extensive experience using lab test equipment, and their control.
  • Attention to detail and ability/experience in design and development of FPGA-based hardware interfaces.
  • Experience writing firmware for commercially available dev-boards.
  • Experience with radiofrequencyand/ormicrowave measurement techniques.
  • Experience with modern approaches to electrical packaging and interconnect design.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to new situations in a rapidly changing research environment.
  • Experience in writing firmware for commercially available dev-boards
  • Excellent teamplayerand excellent communication skills.

  • Demonstrated experience with report writing and documentation.
