We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.

NSW is becoming more mobile and inter-connected than ever. The Roads Maintenance and Motorways Section manages the Sydney State roads that connect people, places and goods. Sydney’s substantial Road Asset base of roads, bridges, culverts, slopes and traffic signals represents is a significant part of the Greater Sydney Public Transport Network.


Transport for NSW has recently awarded three new Sydney Road Assets Performance (SRAP) contracts to three Service Providers to deliver critical road asset management and capital projects across three geographical zones within Greater Sydney, the Eastern Harbour, Central River and Western Parkland Zones. These new contracts seek to provide value for money and optimum service outcomes by setting clear and measurable performance outcomes for the new service providers with a stronger focus on asset management, safety, performance, sustainability and innovation.

The opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced senior contract manager to bring their excellent communication skills and highly collaborative approach to managing the new SRAP contract in one of three geographical zones in Greater Sydney (Harbour, River or Parkland).

The Senior Contract Relationship Manager for each zone will need to diligently manage the new form of contract and negotiate solutions across organisational boundaries to ensure the delivery of safe, sustainable and customer-focused asset management outcomes which are consistent with the principles and intent of the new Sydney Roads Asset Performance (SRAP) Contract.

Reporting into the Director, Sydney Roads Asset Performance (SRAP) Contracts, the Senior Contract Relationship Manager, acts as the primary point of contact between Transport for NSW and the relevant Service Provider ensuring that Sydney’s road assets are managed effectively by the Service Providers in a way that delivers value for money to the State in a safe, efficient, reliable, and customer-focused manner. The role is responsible for all aspects of the Service Provider relationship, including the day to day management of the contract and ensures that effective and regular reporting of the contractors performance against the performance framework using TfNSW business rules and data information systems, workflows and legal obligations and Government commitments.

This role is a fantastic opportunity to play a significant role in the next generation of innovative road asset management contracts that will have a positive impact for our customers and communities across Greater Sydney for the next 9-15 years.

What you will be involved in

  • Managing the performance of TfNSW commercial contracts to achieve value for money outcomes for the State.
  • Leading and managing a team including capability development and performance management.
  • Implementing best practice contract management and document management systems and processes.
  • Proactively supporting Service Providers ensuring they are responsive to the needs and concerns of their client, our customers and the community.
  • Facilitating the assessment of environmental impacts associated with projects with key internal environmental stakeholders.
  • Tracking cost efficiency, productivity trends and innovation and benefits realisation of the Service Provider.


About you

You are an experienced senior manager with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills and proven experience successfully managing large contracts as part of a complex organisation.


In this role you will be required to work closely with the Service Provider, Sydney Asset, Journey Management (TMC), Community and Place, Safety and a wide variety of other key internal stakeholder groups within TfNSW to make sure these core clients get what they need. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA) to ensure that the Service Providers understand and meet their sustainability targets under the contract. As such you will need to be extremely collaborative and have strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills to build trust, rapport and credibility with both your vendor partner, your core internal client (Sydney Asset) and all stakeholders.


A sophisticated understanding of and experience in contract management and a sound understanding of contract law fundamentals are essential for success in this role.
