Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.

We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.

We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.

About the team

The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division engages with our customers and communities. We connect regional NSW with safe and tailored transport choices, and contribute to strong economic growth and sustainability across the state.

The opportunity

Right now, we are looking for an Engagement Manager on a permanent basis to join the Office of the Deputy Secretary. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a communications strategy and materials that drives engagement, influences behaviours across the Division and elevates the role of Regional and Outer Metropolitan.

You will work closely with a high performing team to ensure key messages are consistent, timely and reaches key stakeholders seamlessly. Using a variety of tools and platforms, you will develop and deliver corporate communications on behalf of the Deputy Secretary for internal and external events. Partnering with internal stakeholders to define business needs and objectives in order to develop and implement an appropriate, clear and consistent communication strategy.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have a tertiary qualification in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or a similar discipline, or equivalent experience implementing communications strategies at senior levels.

We are looking for a dynamic professional with strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to develop and maintain collaborate working relationships. You take pride in the ability to manage relationships and negotiate with varied groups and individuals to get desired outcomes. Your self-motivation and decisiveness will allow you to work both autonomously and under direction, while your resilience will see you thrive in an ever-changing politically sensitive landscape.

You’ll have a flair with words, an understanding for capturing an audience, flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and great attention to detail. A familiarity operating in a government environment would make you ideally suited to the role.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is Transport Grade 9 ($135,898 - $152,404) per annum plus superannuation
