Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.
We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.

About the team
The Strategic Transport Planning team within Transport leads the development of long-term, multi-modal strategies, plans and policies for places and networks across NSW. We leverage data and insights, implement new technologies, drive innovation and build partnerships to provide customer and community centred visions, strategies and plans, including a pipeline of future initiatives.
The Executive Director Transport Strategy will provide cross-cluster leadership of transport strategy and long term network planning that reflects government objectives for customers and the community, and anticipates future requirements. The role is responsible for the delivery of the Future Transport Strategy and its updates, providing the strategic guidance necessary to implement key Future Transport initiatives, and for developming network strategies and long term plans to provide a pipleline of future transport initiatives.
The role takes the lead in developing strategic transport planning collaboration across community, industry and all levels of government. It also develops integrated network strategies to ensure connected communities, and to inform place planning occurring within Transport and across all levels of government.
You will lead the delivery of a portfolio of strategic transport planning initiatives and advice, encompassing the responsibilities for the ongoing development Future Transport, development of supporting strategic guidance documents and integrated multi-modal network strategies across NSW.

You are an executive leader with extensive knowledge of transport planning practices, including best practice developments locally and abroad.
Demonstrating significant experience leading multi-disciplinary teams, you drive all aspects of program development and program management across the full portfolio of strategic transport planning initiatives, including resource negotiation, implementation, effectiveness review and application of professional standards and quality assurance practices.
You are skilled in providing government with strategic advice on investment priorities including integrated, outcomes-based business cases for city shaping and state shaping transport initiatives.
You put people at the centre of every decision you make, and draw satisfaction from the knowledge that you’re making a real difference working on services that connect people and communities in NSW.
