Metallurgical coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate two open cut and three underground metallurgical coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, every year producing millions of tonnes of the highest quality hard coking coal for this purpose.
As a Mining Engineer working in the Truck & Shovel planning team, you will develop and implement short term mine plans for site, including 4100XPB shovel and 500t Excavator designs and schedules, and integrate this work with other planning and operational areas. With the support of the planning team, you will be required to actively engage with the production team and other key stakeholders to communicate these mine plans and schedules, ensuring that the production processes are optimised in order to continuously increase the operational efficiency.
You must have a strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards within plan development as well as strong planning, technical knowledge and interpersonal skills.
Exposure to Deswik, high precision GPS monitoring systems,Fleet Management Systems and Minvu reporting systems will be highly regarded. You will utilise your experience of coal mining process as well as your knowledge in mine scheduling software to deliver achievable, safe and efficient mine plans.
Key Technical outputs:
- Detailed dig, dump and haul route planning for Dawson Truck & Shovel operations
- Compliance to plan monitoring
- Scheduling and reporting
- Infrastructure and interaction planning
- Strong communication skills and a well-developed analytical approach will be the key to your success in this role
- Provide mine planning services to the operation, and strategic mine development advice on how to optimise the value of the mines resource
- Provide the operating areas with robust plans to ensure the business is able to meet production targets
- You will have a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining or Civil) or equivalent
- With 3-5 years Open Cut Experience (Coal highly regarded)
This is a Monday-Friday role based at Dawson Mine, in Moura QLD. This role is suitable for both residential and DIDO commuting. Subsidised housing is on offer with this role (residentially) and/or camp accommodation.
