Metallurgical Coal Australia

Metallurgical coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate two open cut and three underground metallurgical coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, every year producing millions of tonnes of the highest quality hard coking coal for this purpose.

Job Description

Surveyor - Aquila Mine

Reporting to the Registered Mine Surveyor, you will be a key member of the survey team and assist in delivering best practice surveying services to Aquila. In this role you will drive effective communication between all stakeholders and maintain strong relationships across all departments. You will provide surface and underground survey services including drafting, updating mine plans, planning and assisting with projects

This is an exciting time to be part of the Aquila team, with the focus on innovation and technology allowing you to fly DJI drones onsite under the Operators Certificate and use handheld mobile laser scanners in the underground operations.

Qualifications

To be successful in the role you will hold tertiary qualifications in Surveying, with a strong commitment to safety and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Your well-developed communication and influencing skills will be key to your success in this role.
