We currently have a Senior Executive Leadership opportunity for a Director Tunnel Structures. The successful candidate will lead a team of Tunnel Structural and Geotechnical engineers in the management of technical risk in infrastructure projects to enable the multi-modal development, delivery, operations, and management of tunnels safely, to optimum-quality, on time and on budget, with minimum impact to the community and the environment.
The team will focus on the large and complex Structural elements that’s these major tunnelling infrastructure projects rely on.
The role is responsible for co-developing and implementing strategies for the development, maintenance, retention and transfer of TfNSW tunnel structural and geotechnical engineering capabilities; providing high level strategic and specialised technical advice.

The successful candidate will have extensive will be a subject matter expert in the Structural side of large scale Tunnelling Infrastructure projects with a demonstrable track record of delivering these projects successfully.
Previous experience in Senior Executive Leadership roles within the Infrastructure project space with an emphasis on large scale complex tunnelling projects and their successful delivery.
To be successful in this position candidates must have extensive knowledge and experience in the Structural / Geotechnical disciplines and in the provision of high level integrated tunnel engineering technical advice, the management of technical risk in infrastructure projects and leading engineering teams in the development and delivery of major road tunnelling infrastructure.
As this position is a Senior Level Executive position it is critical candidates possess a record of success at an executive management level in a large complex organisation with proven strategic leadership management competency and experience with the capacity to inspire staff to deliver.
The successful candidate will also need to possess extensive Stakeholder management expertise and experience to navigate through government processes combined with strong leadership skills with the ability to drive performance in complex, politically and commercially sensitive environment.
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering or related technical discipline.
- Demonstrable experience in Senior Leadership roles within the Infrastructure industry specifically within tunnelling projects
- Demonstrable experience in the provision of high level tunnel engineering technical advice and the management of technical risk in infrastructure projects
- Extensive experience in the Structural / Geotechnical side of large scale complex Tunnelling / Infrastructure projects and their successful delivery.
