The Opportunity

To ensure Woolworths has the right products at the right time and at the right price for our customers, our team sets the direction for a category in line with the organisational strategy - planning, organising and controlling resources to deliver business results.

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Assistant Category Manager to join our Buying team. Assisting the Category Manager in executing category plans that are better for customers, simpler for stores and deliver against financial and non-financial targets. As an Assistant Category Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Running an effective promotional program that delivers against sales, profit and market share targets. All aspects of the category in relation to product, price, promotions, placement & own brand.
  • Negotiating with a diverse & complex supplier portfolio on promotional investment and executions (aligning to KPI’s).
  • Work in collaboration with other team members and stakeholders e.g. Category Manager & Assistant, Marketing, Online, Replenishment, Promotions etc. to implement promotional activity effectively

You are a strong communicator & negotiator with the following skills & experience:

  • Proven experience managing & building effective relationships with a large supplier portfolio
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Willingness to learn, collaborate with the wider team and adapt with changing conditions
  • Experience managing end-to-end promotional activity
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in excel and Google apps advantageous
