About the role

We are looking for an experienced Health Safety & Environmental Manager to work on an attractive FIFO roster to the Pilbara, WA. This role will work with the leadership teams, subcontractors and the client to develop and implement strategies, values and capabilities that drive the culture of safety and zero harm across the project.

Key responsibilities

You will be responsible for implementing the Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) management plans and managing the HSE interfaces at project level, along with preparing routine audits, providing support, coaching and mentoring to the project team and subcontractors on matters relating to HSE. You will also provide support and expert advice on HSE issues in order to ensure compliance to client and regulatory requirements for the project. You will be instrumental in building HSE resilience in our business, founded on engagement & trust by placing our people at the heart of HSE decision making and ensuring that our HSE performance focusses on understanding success and identifying opportunities for improvement through good governance such as audits and investigating all incidents to ensure timely close out whilst adhering to Laing O’Rourke’s safety policies and procedures.

You will have

As the suitable candidate for this role, you will hold or be working towards a Graduate Certificate in OHS, Cert IV Environment along with previous experience in a Health, Safety & Environment Manager role on a large scale construction infrastructure projects. Individuals who have worked on mining related Civil, SMP or E&I projects are encouraged to apply. You will be competent in significant incident investigations and demonstrate effective communication, interpersonal, influencing and leadership skills.
