This is an exciting time in the energy industry with the transition to renewable energy. Recent government policy documents outline plans to facilitate increasing transmission interconnection between states and development of renewable energy zones.
Due to strong growth within our Works Delivery division, an exciting opportunity exists to join our team as a Transmission Line Technician in Tamworth, NSW.
The purpose of the position is to develop, maintain and provide practical and technical expertise in transmission line work including inspection, maintenance, repairs and construction of transmission line assets within TransGrid’s transmission network and to deliver all elements of these tasks as required to meet customer expectations.
You will develop capability to be a subject matter expert for these systems and will gain skills to be able to lead a team of technicians – providing mentoring and training to other staff.
Inspection, maintenance, repairs and construction of Transmission Line Assets
Providing high quality technical and customer service to internal and external customers.
With experience, you will provide leadership to work teams in the field; ensuring that work is completed in accordance with TransGrids safety, environmental and quality requirements.
Provide standby support for emergency incidents, including loss of supply
To be successful in the role you will have:
- Certificate III in ESI - Power Systems - Transmission Overhead
- Extensive transmission line trade experience
- A current Australian Driver’s License
- Good oral and written presentation skills
- Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment
- Prepared to work away from their nominated headquarters for periods of time
- Ability to interpret schematics
- Allocation to a standby roster to provide afterhours standby services and respond to system incidents
- Willing to engage in external work opportunities on non-TransGrid assets and locations
