We are looking for an experienced People Lead to join our Data Reliability team, based in Auckland.

What’s the role?

As a People Lead, you will be responsible for supporting engineers and driving a culture of professional development and an evolving cross-functional capability within Reliability. You will be responsible for supporting your direct reports in becoming awesome Xeros, empowering them to deliver high-quality software to customers, hone their engineering skills, and foster the growth of a world-class engineering culture. You’ll also work alongside Product Management and fellow People Leads to drive Engineering team initiatives to enable the success of the group as a whole.

What you'll do:

  • You are the voice and advocate for your people, you will set the tone of the team and have the ability to tell the story of progress.
  • You will take an innate interest in the work that your people are doing to assist in removing blockers and creating buy in with both your team and stakeholders.
  • Champion principles and practices that make it possible for engineers to do great work, while promoting a safe environment for people to experiment and learn.
  • Assist with the development of a world-class engineering culture where engineers have the skills and autonomy needed to build high-quality products and services.
  • You will be focused on creating a collaborative flow of fast feedback within pods while maintaining strong relationship with Product Owners You will develop and support strong individual growth plans for your engineers, focusing on their goals and career plans
  • Manage performance of your people with focus on enablement and improvement. Role-modelling exemplary leadership, supporting and growing the next generation of leaders at Xero.
  • Cultivate a fun, appreciative, rewarding, innovative and results-driven culture that lives and breathes our Xero values
  • Attracting, recruiting and retaining capable individuals, building on and complementing the diversity of our team
  • Support the Head of Engineering in executing and improving cross-cutting talent management initiatives and processes such as recruitment, growth and performance management.
