Come and join us at Xero! Due to ongoing growth of our Xero whanau, we are looking for an experienced IT Support Team Lead to lead our Internal IT team, based in Wellington.

What’s the role?

You will be leading the Internal IT Support team in your region. You will be responsible for supporting your direct reports in becoming awesome Xeros — empowering them to hone their technical support skills, and contributing to a great culture and environment where our people do their best work.

You will work alongside other Team Leaders and Engineering Leaders to foster the growth of a world-class IT team, and to drive initiatives to enable the success of the group as a whole. Your role can be summarised by ‘you drive and support your reports to be successful in their roles while still getting your hands dirty with support when necessary’.

What you’ll do:

  • Encourage and support the professional development of the team under your care
  • Support the Head of Internal IT in executing and improving cross-cutting talent management initiatives and processes such as recruitment, growth and performance management.
  • Champion principles and practices that make it possible for the IT team to get great work done, while promoting a safe environment for people to experiment and learn
  • Role-model exemplary leadership, support and grow the leadership capability for our Xeros
  • Enable and support the team in delivering the system, process, procedural improvements
  • Act as an escalation point for issues or challenges that the team are facing
  • Overseeing and supporting good incident and problem management practices
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business
  • Manage and maintain SLO’s within the IT team
  • Provide Operational Metrics to leadership team
  • Assist the projects team with project handover and project related desktop support tasks

  • Great facilitation skills. Can lead workshops unaided.

  • The ability to break down complex problems, deliver pragmatic solutions and be able to manage changing priorities.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
