We are looking for someone to take their senior leadership experience in Strategy, Communications, Marketing, Business Excellence and apply it in a new and exciting way.

About the role:

Modelled on the concept of a “Chief of Staff”, the Downer NZ leadership team is looking for a key role that supports them to operate as a high performance team. Reporting to the CEO, this role manages all aspects of the functioning of the leadership team, ensuring the right strategic focus, delivery against strategic initiatives, appropriate governance applied around risk management, to name a few. A key skillset required in this role is to manage and enhance the reputation and brand of the organisation through managing marketing, internal & external communications, public relations and media. We are seeking a proactive approach to creating stronger stakeholder relationships and demonstration of thought leadership as part of Downer NZ’s focus on contributing to New Zealand Inclusive.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will need to be able to build effective networks and influence a diverse range of stakeholders. You will apply project management principles to driving continuous improvement projects and apply your organisational skills to the effective management of team processes. You are likely to have previously led a Marketing & Communications function and know how to build reputation through relationships and delivery. You will understand the critical importance of employment brand and engagement of the workforce to the on-going success of the organisation.

This role will suit an individual that likes to be at the centre of the action, who is highly skilled at connecting up all of the activity occurring in a large and complex organisation and distil it into a compelling narrative that supports achievement of our long-term goals. You will need to be structured yet highly agile, as no two days will be the same. This is a unique role that you can bring your own difference to.
