About the opportunity

We have an opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Industrial IT & Automation professional to join the Information Technology and Automation Solutions (ITAS) Global team located at our Booragoon Office.

As the Senior Software Development Lead, you will join our agile development team supporting software development initiatives from several different Alcoa internal groups such as Digital and Continuous Improvement, Asset Management, etc. to deliver predominately Web and Mobile solutions, helping the customers to improve workflow and decision-making processes.

Primarily responsible for the whole software development life cycle phases, you will be leading development teams via DevOps tools towards the implementation of web and mobile solutions using Microsoft Azure Cloud platform and .NET development stack. You will also have the opportunity to work on exciting practical activities by developing proof of concepts and brining innovation to Alcoa software development practices. Your expertise will have a direct impact on Alcoa’s operation being safer, cleaner and more efficient.

About you

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • Degree qualifications in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related IT qualification, or equivalent experience

  • Excellent communication skills

  • The ability to translate user requirements into technical solutions

  • Consolidated experience in a similar leadership role

  • Strong relationship building skills; collaborative, including working in cross functional and virtual teams

  • Ability to drive a project and work both independently and in a team.

  • Experience in Microsoft software development platform such as C# .NET stack using Visual Studio and DevOps, Angular, Xamarin, Progressive Web App, Power BI, SQL Server. This is a technically oriented role, so deep understand of software engineering practice is expected. Strong Git skills and familiarity with Azure Development and Agile development methodologies is required.

  • Experience managing projects following Agile and Traditional/Hybrid project delivery methodologies, preferably in fast-paced environments.

  • Experience with Reliability, Engineering and Maintenance software such as Oracle Enterprise Asset Management, Asset Performance, Reliability tools, etc.

  • Experience in using data query languages such as T-SQL, MDX, DAX, etc.

  • Working knowledge of some of the following digital topics: Connected Worker solutions, Cloud, IOT, Robotics and automation, Augmented Reality, and others.

  • Knowledge of Honeywell PHD and OSIsoft PI historians and process data visualisation toolset would be desirable.
