Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.
We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.

About the Team
The Safety, Environment and Regulation division upholds safety and sustainability in our transport system. We’re working to deliver globally-recognised, safe, sustainable transport for our people, customers and the community.
Right now, we have a fantastic Parramatta based opportunity (Fixed term full-time for 6 months) for you to use your Mechanical Engineering knowledge and experience to work with subject matter specialists documenting technical business processes within the Vehicle Standards Unit. In order to undertake this task you will have a working knowledge of the technical aspects of materials, equipment and techniques used in assessing vehicles for compliance with Vehicle standards and Australian Design Rules (ADR).

We are looking for a qualified Mechanical Engineer with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of documenting business processes and preparing technical/legal documentation.
Indulge both your passion for motor vehicles and project work where you will be able to take responsibility for delivering an important body of work to a deadline.
You will have knowledge of the technical aspects of materials, equipment and techniques used in assessing vehicles for compliance with Vehicle standards and an exposure to Quality Management Systems.
Your ability to work closely with Subject Matter Experts and document their knowledge in a format which ensures that policy, regulations, technical and quality principles are adhered to is essential. Previous experience in a similar role where you have utilised your mechanical engineering knowledge/skills is highly regarded.
This role is a unique opportunity for you to increase your knowledge and understanding of the processes and requirements of TfNSW in relation to Vehicle Standards and their application from working with highly experienced and knowledgeable experts in this field.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is Project Engineer Level 1 ($94,184 - $111,040) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
