An exciting opportunity has presented itself to join the team as a Splunk Engineer.

A bit about your role

The Splunk Engineer is a position within the Security Chapter reporting into the Splunk Lead Delivery Engineer. The candidate will have a solid understanding of security information and event management (SIEM) backed with several years’ experience in delivering services into a SIEM with the Splunk toolset. With a strong background in networking, security and infrastructure monitoring using the Splunk.

The objective of the team is to work across organisational boundaries on our corporate and active network. Onboarding of critical event, log data through modelling (CIM) and delivery of dashboards, reporting to support the ongoing and future security needs of the organisation. This includes various log types and data sources into the SIEM tool by identifying, developing and deploying global cybersecurity controls across the enterprise leveraging the firm’s assets, network and data to identify threats. This role will utilise the power of the team and partnerships with Cyber Security Operation Centre (CSOC) along with other areas of the organisation to support the end to end secure deployment of security technologies across the enterprise.

The Splunk Engineer sits within an 8-12-member Delivery Team and will be a valuable contributor in providing technical solutions across all areas of delivery (design/build/test).

The Splunk Delivery Service sits within the Security Engineering chapter – an autonomous team of 50-120 people comprising multiple Delivery Service Teams and delivering ongoing IT change related to a unique set of business processes within nbn.

A bit about you

The successful applicant will have proven exposure to Splunk. Covering areas such as Enterprise Security, User Behavioural Analytics, Splunk Applications and numerous data sources for complex Splunk environments. This is an exciting role that involves maturing the threat landscape and securing nbn’s network on our journey to becoming and remaining the securest network in Australia.

Ideally, you will meet the below criteria:

  • 7+ years of experience in transforming the delivery across IT teams (preferred in telco industry)
  • 3+ years working in the Splunk or similar SIEM domain
  • 5+ years technical experience in a large-scale IT delivery
  • Experience with Cloud delivery and architecture.
