ABOUT THE ROLE

An opportunity has arisen for a Sustainability Specialist to join our Operations to work with all winery and packaging teams to ensure sustainable environmental strategies are in place across our SA and NZ sites.

In this exciting role you will have ownership of Sustainable strategies for our sites that align with our broader strategies including energy reduction, cleaner processing, responsible sourcing and sustainable packaging.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying process improvement opportunities from a sustainability perspective, for example in lean manufacturing, energy usage, water usage, packaging, recycling waste, reduction of waste etc.
  • Stakeholder engagement both internally and externally with contractors on environmental matters
  • Maintaining our environmental management system across the group and the processes around it
  • Liaising with our packaging supply teams and customers working towards our sustainable packaging targets
  • Managing internal and external audits for sustainability certifications
  • Leading sustainability projects and initiatives across our operations
  • Researching grants and funding that may be available
  • Maintaining an ear to the industry and more broadly to sustainability
  • Reporting on environmental performance both to internal teams and relevant regulatory bodies

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Minimum of two years experience in a similar or related role leading initiatives and projects
  • A strong interest in sustainability, improving our environment and in driving initiatives
  • Qualifications in a related field such as Environmental Science, Sustainability or Environmental Management
  • A team oriented and consultative approach
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Flexibility for interstate travel as required
  • Wine industry experience an advantage
