As a Senior Manager, Strategy for nbn’s Operations group, the largest business unit of Australia’s largest telco operator, you will be joining the high-performing Strategy and Transformation team. Reporting to the Executive Manager, Strategy & Planning, the team you’ll join is accountable for the development of nbn Operations’ operating model (how we need to work in order to deliver our core accountabilities and objectives), as well as designing, prioritising and aligning strategic plans and key initiatives across the various teams in our business unit. We are a dynamic and diverse group who work with various stakeholders across the Operations business unit and nbn including senior and executive leaders.
A bit about your role
As the Senior Manager, Strategy, you will actively work with the senior leadership team and other key stakeholders across Operations and nbn to develop the Operations business strategy, providing key insights and recommendations on what the evolving future requirements of our business unit and our customers will be, and how we can set ourselves up to successfully meet them. Additionally, you’ll oversee nbn Operations’ contributions to nbn’s long term strategy, and the corporate end-to-end annual and quarterly planning process.
In your new role as the Senior Manager Strategy, your core aim to help our leaders make choices about what action to take to set us up for future success. To this end you will get to:
Work collaboratively with key business stakeholders across the business and at all levels of the organisation
Research and analyse feedback and data both specific to nbn as well as external market and industry
Drive initiatives that require you to develop insights into the current and future needs of Operations, emerging trends, risks and opportunities, and proposed solutions, options and recommendations across multiple topics such as operating models, CAPEX, OPEX, financial modelling & investments, ROI, resourcing models, technology ventures, and more
Present these insights, findings and recommendations to the business, the Executive team, Board and Shareholders to enable our leaders to make informed decisions and develop business strategies
A bit about you
In order to be a success in this role, you will have 10+ years’ experience in strategy development within corporate or business strategy roles in telecommunications, utilities, engineering, financial or construction industries.
You will also either bring top tier management consulting experience or solid experience in constructing and managing business strategy initiatives and the development of complex financial investment modelling. You will clearly demonstrate experience in creating digital roadmaps with acumen and knowledge of systems trends and future-needs in operational environments.
Experience in business capability frameworks, development and business architecture paradigms is desirable.
You will bring strong organisational skills and advanced critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills and will demonstrate the ability to translate thoughts into actionable and accountable results for the business.
Moreover, you will have highly developed written, verbal and presenting skills and the ability to lead, manage and influence the Senior Management Team.
You will have tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Business Management, Commerce, Finance, IT or related discipline, and finally, but most importantly you will bring a passion for seeing things from new and different perspectives, a keen interest in understanding your customers and stakeholders, energy and a self-motivated drive to achieve results, a strong desire to develop solutions and proposals that meet customer needs, delight in translating dry or complex concepts into enjoyable yet fit for purpose documents or presentations, and an approachable and easy to work with personality.
