The opportunity

We have three exciting opportunities for Business Performance Analysts to be a part of our Fleet Maintenance Division within Sydney Trains. Each individual vacancy sit in a uniquely small team reporting to the Fleet Manager, this position is pivotal to providing reporting and support to the Maintenance Centre. Each Maintenance Centre has its own challenges & projected workload & would be a great opportunity for considerate, forward thinking, process improvement focused & inclusive go-getters to join!

  • 1 opportunity will be expected to work across 2 locations – Hornsby & Oscar (Eveleigh) Maintenance Centre
  • 1 opportunity based at Sydenham Maintenance Centre
  • 1 opportunity based at Flemington Maintenance Centre

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Forecast future train and business performance using proven statistical techniques in the areas of, but not limited to, reliability, availability, safety, finance, environment, risk and human resources
  • Analyse and translate complex data, obtained from numerous sources, into concise reliable management information
  • Take initiative by reviewing & proposing business improvements based on honest data
  • Provide ongoing support to the Fleet Manager with day to day operations and functions including compiling reports and making recommendations for daily, monthly, quarterly, yearly reporting, forecast and ad hoc as required
  • Contribute to the development of the framework for business improvement practices for the Division
  • Provide appropriate data interrogation to allow for robust discussions on train and business performance
  • Enthusiastically build and maintain effective relationships with key internal stakeholders

About you

We are looking for candidates who has quantitative and analytical skills and demonstrated experience in providing recommendations for a range of complex issues with an empathetic nature. Ideally you will be degree qualified (business, finance or data science), coupled with demonstrated ability to organise, analyse and communicate information/ improvement ideas logically to suit the needs of different target audience groups. A successful applicant will have experience in modernizing reports to support business’ interest, have a firm understanding of how budgets are managed & ideally, have experience with Tableau, SAP/EAM, Maximo or a similar CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System).
