Lead the ongoing definition and evolution of our Company’s long-term Financial Services strategy, including evaluating the changing landscape in which Xero operates, identifying the most attractive opportunities and ensuring Xero is positioned to win in the future Align and connect the FS strategy with Xero’s overall Corporate Strategy Be a trusted and respected leader of both the FS Leadership team and Global Strategy Leadership team Lead & support cross-functional teams from the FS Business Unit and several areas across Xero to explore, evaluate, and recommend strategies and tactics to support Xero’s FS priorities Structure and solve business problems, collaborating and coordinating with a range of internal stakeholders to make recommendations on a wide range of business issues Oversee and contribute to the development of rigorous, fact based, quantitative analysis to support recommendations Ensure strategic and financial soundness and alignment for any recommendations Communicate recommendations to senior management, other executive, functional, or regional management and staff in a clear, concise and impactful way Support the creation and communication of materials for the Board of Directors and Executive leadership to communicate our perspective on key market trends and strategic implications for Xero Support key stakeholders and the EGM of FS on critical initiatives, including strategic support and thought leadership for high impact projects, three-year operating plan and leadership team facilitation Support the strategic rationale and execution of FS partnership opportunities, working closely with our FS BU, Corporate Development and Strategic Partnerships teams Assist the Strategy Leadership Team in managing team operations including the allocation of team resources to the initiative pipeline – proactively suggest and lead implementation of new approaches that continue to make the team more efficient and effective Provide mentorship and direction to junior team members, and contribute to the Strategy team’s collective toolkit to continually enhance our effectiveness as an organisation

How you’ll make an impact
Xero’s Global Strategy team partners and advises Senior Executives across the company to lead critical strategic and operational initiatives that cover all areas of the business - from new market entry to new product development. To support our growing pipeline of opportunities and choices, Xero is hiring a General Manager within the Global Strategy team to lead a team focussed on tackling some of the biggest Financial Services (FS) opportunities and questions facing the company globally - and advance our ambitions in this area. The decisions you and your team will help guide will represent some of the most important decisions we make each year, shaping our ability to positively impact the financial needs of people in small business, their advisers and communities around the world.

What you’ll bring
The successful candidate will bring over 10 years of experience in Strategy with at least 3 of those years at a consulting firm with deep FS expertise. Your natural curiosity will have assisted you in developing a deep understanding of the FS sector as well as associated digital and regulatory reform. With strong personal credibility and leadership skills you're someone that can comfortably lead senior executives through difficult tradeoff discussions and creatively drive consensus. In this role you will rely on your ability to balance analytics rigor with a bias for action leading to fast and practical recommendations.
You will possess a proven ability to independently drive all facets of strategy initiative from identifying the questions, structuring and performing complex analyses, managing teams against key workstreams and presentations for executive leadership. Critical will be your extensive experience in delivering complex cross-enterprise FS projects with multiple stakeholders at both senior and junior levels.
