Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.
We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.

Engineering & Maintenance
The Engineering & Maintenance Directorate manages a $1.5 billion annual maintenance program on behalf of Sydney Trains and NSW Trains – delivering a safe, reliable passenger fleet and metropolitan rail network, to meet growing customer demand and keep Sydney moving.
The primary purpose of Major Works is to keep Sydney moving by undertaking extensive asset renewal projects for Sydney Trains as part of the TfNSW cluster.
Right now, we have an opportunity for a Commissioning Manager Signalling to deliver complex Signalling projects and oversee inspection and testing of other signalling projects in support of the annual works program.
What you will be involved in:
- Delivering complex project plans, inspections and test plans, commissioning plans/ packages and ensure they are completed to time, cost and quality, technical and safety standards.
- Overseeing all aspects of signalling construction projects from concept to completion
- Liaising with Program Managers, Asset Owners, Interface Managers, Design Managers and 3rd party contractors on project specifications and schedule to establish a shared understanding of project scope, budget, success indicators, quality, environment, technical and safety standards.
You are accredited in the Signal Engineer Field (ADI01) with demonstrated experience working as a Commissioning Engineer on major signalling projects. A knowledge and understanding of rail operations to enable the production and implementation of signalling interface management plans will see you thrive in the role.
