|Job Type:||Contract/Temp, Full Time|
The University of Newcastle is a research-intensive institution distinguished by a commitment to equity, engagement, excellence, and sustainability. It is currently ranked 197th in the world by 2020 QS World University Rankings and has over 2,700 staff and 37,000 students. The University of Newcastle has a history of significant achievement and the vision for an exciting future with the new Looking Ahead Strategic Plan 2020-2025.
Toward achieving this plan, three colleges have been created – the College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing, the College of Human and Social Futures and the College of Engineering, Science and Environment. Each College will have a newly created General Manager role to lead college services, with an operating budget in the order of $200M. Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellors, the General Managers have important responsibilities for the day-to-day operations of the Colleges and in the implementation of their education, research and engagement portfolios.
The General Managers will be proven leaders, adept in leading and managing change, with exceptional analytical; strategic; financial; communication; organisational; and people skills. An understanding of and affinity for the higher education sector is important, as is demonstrated experience working in a similar role within a comparable complex organisation. The ability to build and strengthen effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders will be a critical requirement of the role, as will the capacity to be highly flexible and forward looking.
This is an exciting opportunity to be an important part of creating something new.
